Standard Five

Your fifth grader will be in an environment focused on emphasizing management skills—addressing problems, reconciling emotions, and fostering empathy. As academic pressure increases, we help students effectively manage their studies and extracurricular activities. With the onset of puberty and changes in self-perception leading to emotional fluctuations, we support them in navigating these feelings. Complex social dynamics, including evolving friendships and conflicts, are addressed to promote healthy relationships. During group time, we incorporate mindfulness courses like “Thoughts Are Not Facts” and the “Mindfulness First Aid Manual” to help students manage their emotions. We use the Wisdom Journal for first aid and gratitude exercises, encouraging active emotional management and exploring social psychology topics like “What’s Going On in the World?” When weather permits, we’ll enjoy outdoor play in our spacious yard.

Our bright, engaging classrooms include activities that help students discover love and integrity through their actions and reflections, recognize personal growth, and encourage themselves. They set goals based on current challenges, integrating our core values. We emphasize discussions on problem-solving and decision-making skills, covering 13 key topics from the Wisdom Journal. Additional focuses include bullying prevention discussions, more “Grass Field Days” to release stress, and engaging in topic debates to stimulate curiosity.
